RoHS Compliance Testing

The RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) restricts specific hazardous substances — including lead, mercury, and cadmium — in electrical and electronic equipment. It's mandatory for any manufacturer exporting electronics to the EU or requiring CE marking — non-compliant products can be rejected at customs or during an audit. We run the process for you, from scope to testing to technical file.

Who needs this?

Applies to manufacturers of electronic boards and components, household appliances, lighting equipment, cables and connectors, and any manufacturer producing electrical/electronic assemblies. Mandatory for products exported to the EU or requiring CE marking.

Certain categories are exempt, including military equipment, spacecraft, and some medical implants (such as pacemakers). Test reports generally remain valid for five years, provided there's no change in production or suppliers.

If you supply into the automotive industry, your RoHS reporting is often also expected to align with IMDS (International Material Data System), the platform OEMs use — we factor that into the process.

Which Products Are Affected?

  • Electronic boards and components
  • Small/large household appliances
  • Lighting equipment (including LED drivers)
  • Cables, connectors, and plugs
  • Electric power tools
  • Automotive electronic/electrical assemblies

We don't sell you a magic RoHS certificate — we manage a documentation process backed by real laboratory test reports, so you don't get stuck at customs or during an audit.

What TICQA Provides

We manage the entire process ourselves, from scope definition to preparing the technical file: your testing is carried out through our accredited laboratory infrastructure under our direct coordination, and we interpret the results and prepare the technical file ourselves. We stay your solution partner throughout, from scoping to delivery.

How the Process Works

1

Product and Material Analysis

We check your product components against the 10 substances restricted under RoHS, including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE, and phthalates.

2

Laboratory Testing

Required homogeneous material testing follows the IEC 62321 series through our TÜRKAK-accredited laboratory infrastructure, within the scope of ISO/IEC 17025.

3

Declaration of Conformity and Technical File

We prepare the declaration of conformity and the technical file components needed for CE marking.

What We Need From You

  • Product sample (in the quantity/size needed for testing)
  • Material/component list (BOM)
  • Previous RoHS test reports, if any
  • IMDS submission ID for automotive supply chain, if applicable

What You'll Receive

  • Laboratory test report by homogeneous material
  • RoHS declaration of conformity
  • Technical file components for CE marking
  • IMDS-compatible summary for automotive customers, on request

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does RoHS testing take?

It depends on the number of homogeneous materials to be tested; we give you a firm timeline once we receive the sample.

Are RoHS compliance and CE marking the same thing?

No. RoHS compliance is one of the requirements for CE marking — the CE mark covers a broader safety/conformity declaration.

Which parts of my product need to be tested?

Every mechanically separable homogeneous material is tested individually. We work with you to determine which parts take priority.
